I had a gentleman call me on installing an AR extractor in his bolt. I have never done this and do not have the fixtures or inclination to attempt it. So where could I send him???

Helps to have a pair of V-blocks but really a simple job.

John
I do have V blocks and a mill and lathe just not the instruction sheet. I have not done one so I am not sure I want to practice on a customers gun.

The extractors come with instruction sheet and its really straight-forward. Chuck it into the lathe to sleeve boltface (solder in the sleeve while its in the chuck); into the mill for a groove; then drill hole for spring/plunger. You have to be precise but it is not difficult work.

Sako extractors are easier as there is no cross pin hole.
Or, for the price that some charge you can just buy a new bolt from PTG. (700 bolts)

What caliber is your 722. I might have a NOS 222 extractor.

I have a NOS 222 extractor, as well, if that is the caliber you need.

The rifle is a .308 He said he has two rifles both with the same size cartridge base. I believe the other is a .270

Why does your customer feel the need to replace the Rem extractor? They will rip the rim slam off most any case known. Much like a Chinese finger puzzle. Very few fail.

Apparently the 722 extractors are almost non-existent. His has failed for some reason. I have not seen the rifle so I was going by what he has said. After a lenghty conversation I decided that I did not want to deal with it. As he was much more knowledgeable on the subject and the cost of doing the work.
