Any one know how to take one of these rifles apart so I can clean the gas system, etc. This rifle was my grandfathers and there is no telling how long it has been since it was cleaned. I remember he was having problems with it jamming the last few years and thought maybe a good cleaning would do it wonders.

Jim, Click on the profile The little rolodex card with a person standing next to it to the right of Pumpkinheaver's ID on his message. This has his e-mail address listed. Send the gun to be reblued. Even if it does not need it, they will completely disasemble it, clean and put back it togather for about the same price as a cleaning at the gun shop. Plus you get a nice reblued gun. [ 10-23-2002, 23:01: Message edited by: Terry Blauwkamp ]

Terry Blauwkamp Anytime a gun is reblued it loses much of it's value. A Model 100 Winchester with no factory bluing left is worth more that one that's been reblued.

Also should check to see if it has the firing pin update done to it. I would love to get as many of these as I can to replace firing pin. Easy money from Winchester.

Is winchester still replacing the firing pins on these rifles? I wasn't sure if I could have this done on their dime. I know my grandfather never had it done when he owned it.
