Hello all, I got a parker hale 7mm from the brother in law, it's not a bad gun. I've taken 4 deer and 2 bear with it. I'm a little confused trying to take the stock off. do I have to get a tool to turn the bolt thingy on the side of the stock. It has 2 pinholes and I assume a specialized tool fits them? Also is the trigger adjustable on these guns? And lastly are all the actions the same, I know it's a mauser action but are there different possibilities.
Obviously I'm not too up on my own gun, but I'm trying to learn.
calgarychef1 - Don't remove the "recoil crossbolt"! Your right that it takes a special tool to remove the recoil crossbolt or a very fine punch and alot of patience. But you don't need to remove it at all to take the stock off, just remove the 2 floorplate screws. I have several PHs and some had the crossbolt bedded with glassbed and some don't. Removing it might change the bedding. You will need to check it anyway as the ones I have bought needed rebedding.

If the stock won't come off after removing the two bolts, check for a third screw in front of the trigger and under the triggerguard ............some have it, some don't, but you don't have to remove any other bolts or screws! ~Arctic~
If it has a detachable mag it will have the third screw. Requires driving the pin from the front of triggerguard and usually an allen wrench. These triggers are adj. but don't have much engagement to fool with. Mark

I'm looking for Parker Hale scope rings, a brown-bear guide friend of mine has one and needs them. The rifle has the integral scope bases, like a CZ, and has a locator like stud for recoil, instead of a cross-bar or lug on the side like the CZ. Need a source if there is one thanks , Wayne

Walex...Post a pic of your receiver or a description...make, model, calibre, etc. Also width of dovetail and size of scope your using. I have several pairs...might be able to help you out. Ron
The rifle is out in the village of Hoonah, and I don't have access to it for another month or so. I had the ser # and model and can't find my notes. I measured across the top of the bridges and got 3/4 of an inch, almost identical to CZ I measured at gunshop here in Juneau. He had two of the 30-06 rifles. The owner is visiting in Oregon, so i can't call and get the data from him. Let me know what your dimensions are and I should be able to tell. It looks to me like they bridges were cut with a 60 degree undercut, and .750" across the top and have the hole for the locator stud drilled in the rear receiver if I remember right.
He also needs a mount that is adjustable, and had a spring leaf apparatus and adjustable vee mounts for another gun. I had one just like it on a gun and threw it away a couple of years ago, as it was badly rusted from salt spray in boats fro 30 plus years. Got it with a bausch and laumb non- adjustable scope in Sitka abt 1971. Thanks in advance, Wayne

The hole for the stud is for recoil. Some PH mounts have two, others one depending on calibre and set up.The majority of PH rings are set up for 3/4" dovetail bases. I have a chart that shows all the PH configurations that were available....be happy to mail you a copy...email your address to me rgg_7@hotmail.com Ron
