Anyone have one of their stocks? Are they any good in terms of inletting? I'd be getting one for a large ring Mauser 98.

I've been wondering the same thing. After reading some of the posts in the past 4 years or so on this forum and other forums, I'm inclined to be real leery . I'm seeing roughly 70% con and the remainder pro. I would like to see more opinions myself.

I've used 3 or 4 of their semi inlets and they were fine. Other guys here have not been real happy with their product.

I have two of their "bargin stocks" in progress at the current time. One is their Daly drop in. I think I could press the metal in with a little effort. I've had no complaints.

As usual just my $.02

The GAG is a rough turned blank. They can be turned into nice stocks but will require a lot of work on your part or they will do it for you at an increased price. These are certainly not drop in stocks. If you read all the posts about them they are the hero and the villain like most other firearms related companies. My experience is they are worth what they charge for them, but I would strongly suggest you pay with a credit card just in case.

Here is a picture of one of the last ones I had turned. It's for a mini mauser. I'm not too thrilled about the wood, but the turning job is good.

A good stockmaker probably wouldn't use GAG, but I don't fall into that catgory Razzer

I have used three of their stocks one for a SMLE and two Mausers and was happy with all of them. They are rough turned and require a lot of finishing but in all cases the wood turned out nice. The two Mausers were in the upper grade and the SMLE was a standard utility grade.

I was just at there plant the other day, getting wood. I go there quit often. They do have nice wood, and they do have people whom inlet barreled actions and do inletting work. Coarse its not for free. I haven,t noticed any companies that had drop in,or 95% inletted stocks like the old Fajen company had!!! Now they were good! GA stocks are a litte rough, but you can get some nice wood there.

As long as the inletting isnt off and the barrel channel is straight and square, I have no problem with finishing it myself. But I do intend to pay with a credit card as I have heard this before regarding GAC

If you do a search here you'll find lots of discussions around GAG--they've been discussed here many times.

Have you looked at Richards Microfit Stocks? I have used several of there stocks for projects, and one thing I can say for sure. They are almost a drop in fit, and if you don't like the wood or the stock. The have a 100% money back with out question.

I recently bought a nice blank from Presliks for $225 and sent it to Mike Kokolus to turn off one of his patterns. That was $165 shipped back to me. Include the shipping I paid on the blank and to sent it to Mike and I'm in it about $425. I think this is a much better alternative than GAG or Richards.
