npd345Whitworth Mauser Action for 30-378 WB?
I have a brand new Whitworth action with the magnum, 375 H & H, magazine box.
Have any of you every built a 30-378 on a Mauser action?
Do you think it is adequate for the pressures involved?

ramrod340While I've seen the Whitworth used for the 300Wby I wouldn't much less the 30-378. The action is bacially a normal 98 with a longer box. Then they remove a LOT of metal on the feed ramp which also happens to be the support for the lower bolt lug. I'm not sure there is even enough metal on the bolt face for the 378 and I'm to lazy to go measure.
As usual just my $.02

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

WestpacI've built two 338/378 KT's on Whitworth actions. Takes a little work to get the fat bastards to feed but it's doable.

jeffeossoPlease recall that this is basically a belted 416 rigby necked to 308. Can be done? It has been. I would strongly not recommended it

If you want more power than the 458WM, this is the easiest route. Far different round than the 30-378 however.
