Hi all, I'm looking at a 375H&H take off barrel that says "Classic Super Express" for a LH action. Is this for the new claw extractor versions?
Would this barrel fit onto my post 64 push feed RH action?
TIA

Yes, the Classic is the claw extractor model. The barrel will screw right into your action, but you won't be able to close the bolt. The classic has the coned breech and that needs to be cut off and the shoulder cut forward and because Winchester cuts a relief groove in front of the threads you will lose a couple threads.

It can be made to work but is questionable whether it's a good idea because you will lose a couple threads.

Lar,

You realize that the extractor cut on a barrel machined for a LH action is 180 degrees opposite where it would be for a RH action, right?

George, yes I realize the extractor cut is on the left hand side. But if my action is a push feed, then will it matter at all? Or can I get it to fit with a little time on the lathe and play with it?

Or does anyone out there have a take off 375 H&H bbl for a push feed action?

The barrel probably won't line up with extractor cutout in the same right hand position anyway that is was on original,
in a different action so it might come out close to left side ,but if not, take enough from
barrel shoulder so it indexes around till it is lined up........This is
if you want to keep coned breach.Otherwise
as you say, flatten breach, redo shoulder,
set headspace, and
your ok.Ed.
