Are there any "bolt men" out there who specialize in pre made or build bolts for custom projects?

Try Brownells or Midway first.

Half Moon Rifle Shop
Phone # 1-406-892-4409

There in Columbia Falls, Montana

They don't have a website as far as I know. But they will send you a brochure with picture's.

I learned about them from a fellow AR member, so here I am passing it on.

I would buy from them before I would Brownells or Midway. Just trying to help the "Little Man".

Perry,
If you're looking for a butter-knife bolt handle I might be able to help you. I'm replacing a butter-knife handle on a Brno 21 with a standard knob. If you want the take-off handle I can have it sent to you.
Send me a PM or email if I can help.
Forrest

In that case there are lots of guys who could help you out. Give us a little more information about what you want to have done and you'll likely get pointed in the right direction.

Jim,
This rifle has been head spaced for this bolt and sights have already been mounted on the barrel.
What I am looking for is to have the butter knife handle welded to the bolt. I would like the bolt handle to lay down low like a normal bolt handle, as opossed to sticking straight out like a mil-spec Mauser's does. Is there a set angle, like in degrees, or is it to taste. Is one look more authentic?
The project is a M98 in a Boyd's xx walnut stock with express sights and a barrel band sling attachment. My desire is to make a "safari" look out of this rifle.
Let me hear any suggestions you guys may have.
The reason I am in this pickle is that the gunsmith doing this project quit on his boss, and I dont blame him, and his boss does not want to do a custom project. I have another gunsmith finishing it out but he has never done a butter knife handle before.
Thanks guys for all the input.

If you haven't looked at them, there's a few on this thread-

https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9411043/m/709100717

they appear to run just about parallel to the side of the stock, some with a little flip at the end to facilitate operating it, I'd guess.

Jim, what kind of price are you looking for? Trade? I still have a few of those 1909 guards if you need any more.

If you emai me I will try to send you a photo of the one I did. It would probably headspace up correctly, if not I could fix it.
