I just got a Remington 700 with an 8 pound trigger pull. Is there any easy way to lighten it up a bit?

The best advice I could give you to lighten the trigger on a Rem 700 is to throw it from an airplane, then go get yourself a good mauser rifle...lol...

Snapdragon,

The Rem. M700 trigger is easily adjustable, and is a fine trigger even though it has been given bad press lately. I have four M700s and really like the trigger pull because it can be safely taken down to around 2.5 lbs. by anyone with proper experience.

A local Gunsmith took the nine pound trigger on my M700 down to just under three pounds. I think I was charged $35 dollars. My groups were cut in half immediatly.

I worked on it last night and had no problems at all getting it down to a crisp 3 pounds. Thanks for the help.

I have a PSS, took the trigger down to about 2 lbs for shooting off the bench and varmints by using the snipercountry article. Easy work. I use a bicycle feeding bottle hung off the trigger, fill with water to the weight you want, hang, back off until the trigger releases. I used fingernail polish to 'set' the screws.
