N. GarrettSunny Hill comes through on the Magnums
My 'smith has been finishing up my Mauser 98 (Whitworth action) in 500 Jeffery.
He had welded together a larger magazine box, but didn't like how it was feeding.
The new one from Sunny Hill Enterprises came in last week, and boy is it sweet.
The oversize magazine box is made to be fitted to the receiver first, and then tack-welded to the bottom metal when the final position (for optimal feeding) is set.
The oversize follower is perfect for single stack feeding of the 500 Jeffery cartridge.
It shouldn't be long now, as that was the final thing holding us up....he was able to get the rifle to feed using his own set up, but not smoothly or reliably.
The Sunny Hill unit works perfectly.
Those guys do nice work!

jeffeossothis is great news.. it seems several makers have used this box for the 500 jeffe, and works great.
also for the 495 A2

Do I understand correctly that the magazine box and triggerguard two separate pieces (like a CZ 550) that are welded together by the installer?

N. GarrettNew Guy,
Exactly right. The magazine box is entirely seperate.
You tack it to the bottom metal when you're ready.

How many rounds to the mag hold?

N. GarrettJnc,
This weekend I'll go over to my gunsmiths place and see what we can fit in the magazine.
From eyeballing it, it looks like I should be able to have 4 down.

Any possibility of getting some pictures of the box and relief cut in receiver? I would love to see some.
Thanks

N. GarrettJ,
I'll take my camera with me and get some photos.
My macro photo's aren't great though, but hopefully we'll be able to figure a few things out.
I'll go on Saturday, and I'll try to snap some pics of the tang safety he built on the Mauser action.

It will take 3 down, I've used a couple already.
