I have a line on a Colt New Service in .45 LC but the bore is shot. Aside from the possibility of finding a used barrel with the proper Colt markings, has anyone here ever had Bob Hoyt at the Freischutz Shop, or some other smith, reline a revolver barrel?

I have done them on cap and ball revolvers; nothing to it. You don't need a fancy name barrel maker to do that job. Any hack with a lathe can do a good job. Unless you want to duplicate the original rifling in which case, well, then you need a barrel maker.

Yes. I fully endorse the hacks of the world. I'm sure you won't mind trusting your firearm to one of them. Mercy!

Come on. I mean a good machinist on a lathe. Nothing special about the job so any good machinist can do it.
