I have an exhibition grade walnut stock for a Winchester M-70 post-64 short action. Will a MRC short action fit this stock.....with a bit of glass bedding?.....M-70 short actions are very hard to find! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I put my two MRC SA's in Winchester plastic stocks. As I remember the M70's TG/floorplate footprint is bigger than the 1999's so I had to fill in some with MarineTex. No big deal because I painted the stock but I don't think you want to do that with wood. Perhaps if you use m70 bottom metal?

The tang is a little different I think, but otherwise I think they're very close. You didn't mention what kind of short action M70 you're looking for, left/right, blued/stainless, but they're not that hard to find. Gunsamerica has several listed right now. Now if you're just looking for the action itself, yea that will be hard to come by, but for a complete rifle to part out they're pretty easy to have. Here's a link to one on gunsamerica: http://www.gunsamerica.com/965...er_Weight_308win.htm If you're looking for just the action then CDNN has short FN SPR actions, which are New Haven made M70 short actions, for $349. Go to their website, download the catalog, and it's on page 41. The only gotcha is the bottom metal that comes with it has a detachable box so you'd likely want to get new bottom metal.
