Left Hand Safeties, Why?
I shoot left handed, and I don't wrap my thumb on a rifle. It's just easier to work the lever or the bolt, and my thumb knuckle doesn't poke me in the eye or the nose that way.

A left-hand safety works wonderfully for me, because it's right where I, a left-handed shooter, like to have my thumb. I imagine a lot of right handed shooters don't want ot wrap their thumbs all the way around a rifle stock, and if they don't, the safety ends up being on the wrong side for a right-hander.

I'm not complaining, but I wonder if the left-hand safety location is an inconvenience to a lot of right-handed shooters.

Henry, the model 70 and the Model 700 right hand safeties are on the right side. Am I missing something?

I have no idea what I was thinking. It was probably a mini-stroke or something.

for pure speed, yes, a righty should have the safety on the left...

but

that's the side that rides on the hip of a righty... and can be disloged
