Gents I think I've asked this before but I could not find the post. Can anyone sugest a maker for a set of ghost ring sights? I've looked at Brownells but nothing grabs me.

What style are you after? Winged, low profile, side mounting, top mounting ...?

Determine what you dont want to determine what you do. For really discrete, google Skinner sights.
Cheers...

I'm not sure what you had in mind, but a Williams or Lyman receiver peep sight can be used W/O the aperature insert for an approximately 1/4" aperature opening.

Guys have been doing that for years on hunting rifles.

Bakes, I see that yesterday was your 10-year anniversary on AR. You should get a gold watch or something.

I'm trying to set a precedent because I'm not too far behind.

That is damn nice, but I like the one by Thomas Burgess just a little bit better, even though its a peep. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th photos.

That's one hell of a sight. I can make one but it's going to cost about $2000 each. That's a lot of work. Beautiful but a lot of work

I love it when I see "new" to me Tom Burgess stuff. It is pure artistry in gun metal.

I've got a rifle with the XS sight:

But after I bought it I found that it uses a different hole pattern than any known scope mount base. If you're building a rifle that will only have ghost rings then they're a good option.

As a back-up sight that would be great, but I cant see relying on a folding sight as the primary sight on any rifle. But I guess I should shut-up, knowing Mr. Burgess' work that sight probably locks in the up position. TB was a magician... RIP

The XS sight is an abortion(and I don't make statements like that unless it is truly deserved). Without a doubt the most poorly designed aftermarket part I have ever had the misfortune to mess with.
Mad

I also have a rifle with that sight, but not for much longer, as a K.L. Stottlemyer & Co. custom sight will be replacing it soon. Thank God.

Ya know I like the design enough to seriously think about it. Anything is possible and yeah the price would most definitely come down. Big Grin Once I figure out the fixturing. Big Grin

Edit
Know that I study it for a little while. It looks like it's pretty simple in design I've got a few ideas. Maybe make a duplicate and see how it works. Tried to see if there was a patent on it but no luck.

I will tell you that Tom told me himself he didn't patent his items. Many people copied things of his over the years. He said the cost to patent, the cost to defend it, not worth it. And he wasn't so high volume that it hurt his business I don't think. Anyways, if you did it justice I'm sure Tom would be pleased. He was very generous in sharing his knowledge.

I personally don't know too much about Tom Burgess but if you are correct He is a true Craftsman.

I'm already working on a design.

The latest and greatest. Solid model only right now. This weekend maybe I'll get one knocked out.
