JBelk, or anyone else. I have seen post where someone has taken a swede mauser and rechambered it to a 6.5x284, 6.5x06 and even 308, 30-06. I wanted to get an opinion on converting a swede to 6.5x06. I have read where the swedes were actually stronger than some give them credit. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. fws

I have never shot any but here in sweden it`s popular wildcat and m96 can handle 3006 pressure.

The base of a 6.5x55 is about .009 larger than an '06. The magazine is way too short and, no matter what the Swedes do with them, I've seen way too many Swedes torn up by excess pressure.

M-98s are cheaper than eye patches in the long run. I'll pass. There won't be any Swedes swapping calibers in my shop.

JBelk, thanks for the reply. I had a feeling you would say that, but wanted to make sure. I gave my two 98's to my two grandsons last week. We had a hunting trip planned for west Texas and my jeep went down on the way out to where they were to meet me. So my son and the boys came here to east Texas and worked for a week on my jeep. Ended up having to put a new motor in. They gave up their hunting trip to help me. I thought that was the least I could do. It was worth more that can be said to see thier faces. They had their guns they had bought for the hunt, but were really shinning with smiles from ear to ear. By the way Ray in case you read this I also gave my son the custom 9.3x62 you and I talked about. Thanks again JB. fws
