Hey Crip, I haven't been over to George Vais' shop (High Tech Gunsmithing) in about six weeks because I'm waiting on my .375 H7H reamer from Pacific Tool & Grinding. The last time I stopped by Tac-Ord they were installing their new CNC center so I didn't bug them. I will probably make the Boise rounds on Friday. Send me a PM on Saturday. I'm still also waiting for my scanner to come back from the computer shop. After waiting five years once to get a Shiloh Sharps built I'm a lot more patient about consumer electronic repairs. I'd better get cracking on your barrel thing though. If you shoot a lot you will need a new one every 90 - 120 days. JCN

JCN, I shoot about 3500 rds a year. It is spread around many long guns and some ppc matches. I built my 300 WBY on a Magnum Mauser action. It shoots great, under an inch is all you need to hit the vitals. That gun is just about four years old and don't have but 250 or so rds thrue it. The hunting guns get worked up and then put away. I don't play with them all the time. All my practice is done with bread and butter guns that don't cost much to operate. I had a good source for powder til his shop burned up. H322, H870 IMR5010 @ $2.00 per Lb. I stocked up when he had hundreds of pounds at bulk price.

That 26" barrel with a muzzle break would be perfect for a 375 RUM. The single women aren't too bad. When you mary one they can get really expensive in a very short time.

JCN, I have on hand a stainless 26" 375 H&H with a factory muzzle brake that is a new take off. I plan to put another one together for the 375 RUM. I need to find out how others are doing with their 375 RUMs. If it will top a 375 WBY by 100fps then I will go ahead with it. If not I'll stick with my weatherby which would be cheaper to shoot than the RUM cartridge. Take off barrel contours don't bother me much, I only bed the receiver and float the barrel, sometimes I have to put a preasure pad at the forend. But rem's barrels are pretty close in contour. But while I'm playing with these toys I'm not spending money my hard earned gun money on single women which are almost as much fun and about as loud but more cantankerous.
