Ruger 10/22 foresight removal
I have a Ruger 10/22 with a broken foresight. I have the replacement sight, but now I can't figure out which side the old sight drives out on. Do I tap out left to right, right to left or have I got it all wrong? Should I use heat? It seems really in there solid and I don't wanna twist the bbl or base.

Anybody know?

Drive it out from right to left and install the new one left to right.

Firearms dovetails used to be fitted with a taper. That ended about WW-II but it's still a good idea to follow the convention.

A front sight pusher makes the job stress free on you and the gun. When you dont have one use a brass punch and hold the barrel in the vice as close as you can to the dovetail.

Next time Bruce don't use your rifle barrel as a jack handle. Use the one that came with your car. [Smile]
