My daughter has a Ruger no.1 in .405 Winchester. Nominally, the barrel is .411. Is there any reason that one could not rechamber to .450/.400 3" some day if she so wanted? JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

No problem as Boddington tried to describe, just open the chamber and extractor. Have done three now. ~Arctic~ A stranger is a friend we haven't met

Judge, Why not just get another one in 450/400 for $750-900. The rechamber job would be about $300. Might as well own both!

JudgeG A buddy of mine has a Ruger No1 in 405 Win. If I remember correctly he is getting @2000 fps with Woodleigh 400gr bullets in his with no pressure problems. If you like I can get his loads from him. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Judge, John Barsness did an article a few years ago on the 405. As Tony said, the 405 can duplicate the 450-400 pretty easily. I'll post his loads if I run across the article. Bob

OK, Barsness shows 52 to 53.5 of Ramshot TAC with woodleigh 400 grains in the 405 Winchester, giving 2035 to 2076 fps. Bob
