Got an email from my buddy. He has a Kahr 40cal pistol. The slide has seized forward. Doing some research seems like the Kahr has had trouble with the slide stop retainer spring breaking. If that is the case how do you get the slide to move backwards to allow you to line things up to remove the cross pin? Any suggestions? Or is this a return to Kahr like it is for repair? As usual just my $.02 Paul K

First thing I would do is make sure there isn't a round in the chamber, then, I would insert a well fitted mag block so as not to crush the mag well, mount the frame in a vise and try to tap the slide backwards with a hammer and wooden block. Or, if I couldn't find a spot to place the block, I would insert an appropriate size hardwood dowel into the barrel and tap on that. It might be necessary to apply downward pressure on the barrel hood while tapping. If it looks like it will open, then I might hit it with a little PB Blaster, let it sit a spell and then continue slowly. That's what I would do first. What westpac said but I might tap it with a rubber mallet instead.
