I know you guy's that do this for a living won't be too impressed, but I love to see works in progress on this forum, so I thought I'd post mine. It's a 1909 Argi Mauser chambered in 9.3X62. It's got a 22" L/W barrel, NEGC banded front sight, 3 leaf rear express sights. Gentry swivel sling barrel band and 3 postion safety, Timney trigger and Blackburn drop-box floorplate. I didn't have the receiver surface ground. I keep going back and forth about doing it or not. I really like the lines of it just the way it is, but it would certainly be more user friendly with a scope. I think I'm gonna talk to Scott Green about a set of those nice customs he does.

Here's how I bought it, sporterized

Here is what Gentry's did for it.

Close up of the action. Needs a little more polishing, but it looks pretty good.

Here's one with the wood it's going in. Repair near the butt needs to be re-repaired but that will come in time.

All in all I'm very happy with the way it's turning out so far. just thought I'd share

Terry

Terry, I like it, but I don't count. You're the only one who does. Is that a GAG stock? It looks like one of theirs. I've got an '09 in the works, too, but I shaved the charger hump on mine. I do like the looks of yours, though. Gonna scope it? If so, I'd probably think about taking the hump down, but it's up to you.

Let us know how she shoots....

Very nice. Best of luck with it.

I believe in keeping the hump and clip slot on any rifle that uses a suitable cartridge, such as your 9.3x62. I have scopes on 3 such rifles, using 3 different styles of mounts, and all maintain full use of stripper clips when the scope is detached.

I picked up a 1933 Oberndorf rifle in the same configuration last fall and the action is just beautiful, nicer them my Dakota 76. The pictures show exactly what I want done, except I am somewhat unsure about the charger hump-lips. If, these are ground off, is it necessary to have the entire action re-carburized or not?

That looks like it will be a superb, practical rifle for a very useful cartridge. I hope to have one just like it, let us see further pics as it progresses.

I would be very proud to own such a rifle. Very nice, IMHO. A true Mauser chambered for 9.3x62.... It doesn't get much better than that!

what is even classier yet is to have the charger hump ground, and to grind back the rear bridge so that no slot exists anymore. then, put a square bridge on both the rear bridge and the front ring such that they are perfectly flat with each other. then you can use a set of rings screwed directly into the bridges without the need for a set of bases (sort of like the rings D'arcy Echols uses).

TC1 ,,, British stalker... OK ,, I was trying to find out the diference between their goudy, G&H , and stalker... I thing they are all the same realy, I dont know though, I could not get any real imfo from henry and the guys what the diferences are. I got 2 goudys from them And took alot of wood off styling my own.

One had a real high toe line and the other is higher than most also . I kind wish the toe line was lower and filled up the back of the grip more and the line intersected lower into the rear trigger guard screw.

Is that one of their bargin already made stocks ? Or did you pick your blank and have them cut it?

Thanks rick
