It took me close to 30 years, but I finally scored.

Now for the hard part. IF I can find someone to ultra sound the slide, and it passes, would I be an idiot to load of the lowest possible pressure, lightest bullet around, so I can at least shoot the thing?

One question value wise. The slide finish is the weakest part of the gun. It was stored in a holster.

Should I leave well enough alone, or get the slide hard chromed and turn it into a Miami Vice version.

I had a Miami Rig shoulder for a 220, and it fits! Seems like I read that somewhere years ago.

I really have to no idea who does the ultra sound work, or someone to hard chrome the slide if I choose to.

Opinions are welcome.

Thanks

Very slick. Good luck with it. I have no idea on the ultra sound. I'd be interested in who does hard chrome too.

Wow, good score! The 10mm is one of the most overlooked rounds in existence, MHO.

Shoot it and good luck to you. The original loads were quite hot and your plan for reduced loads sounds good so don't hesitate.

IIWY I would leave the finish alone for a while until my thoughts & preferences gelled. You can always refinish the slide later if you prefer, but you can't restore the original finish once it's gone.
Regards, Joe

Let me get this straight....you have been wanting and looking for that particular gun for 30 years and already you want to change it?

Isn't it what you were looking for?

If you just wanted a 10 m/m, you could have bought a Glock 20 any day of the week. So presumably, it was the Bren Ten pistol you primarily wanted. Well, the one you have is a really excellent looking example of one for its age.....

I would not change the finish. I would shoot it with Factory 10mm.

Current factory 10mm is a fair amount milder than the original Norma 10mm.

PS I have shot a few Bren 10's...
They are an Ok handgun, but they "ain't" no 1911... sofa

With the current roster of 1911 mfgrs reaching a hundred or so, wouldn't it be nice if someone resurrected the Bren autoloading pistols?

IS...there have been several attempts to resurrect the Bren Ten. I get the Gun Digest every year and it seems that about every other year there is a story under the new handguns section about someone reintroducing the original, or slightly modified, Bren Ten. They never seem to come to fruition.
I have shot two originals, and while they were way ahead of their time back then, they are now just a "common, every day" DA/SA semi auto pistol.
Some day maybe one of these makers will finally reintroduce it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. If there was a demand for it, it would have been back in production by now.
If I had one, I would be shooting the you know what out of it.
