After seeing responses to others request for help I am posting here and hoping for the best.

I know they exist, but am having difficulties finding them. I have a few unfinished projects that require the services of an accomplished gunsmith specializing in Mauser rifles. Seems that all the "great" smiths I keep running across only desire to work on 40X or target rifles. I am in Corpus Christi--south Texas. I'll drive anywhere in Texas to get my projects completed. Installing a couple new barrels, barrel chanel recutting, pillar-block bedding, and bolt bending/cutting and welding new handles. When done I'll have componants left over that someone may be very interested in.

You could call Tip Burns in Canyon Lake. If you do a search here you will find a number of people who have used him.

I just had two rifles worked on by Hill Country Rifles, in New Bronfels. Haven't gotten the second one back, but it's finished and enroute to me now. The first one shoots extremely well.
Matt is the man there that I worked with on them, and he is very good.
Google them up and you can read about them, along with some happy customers' cmts.

Sorry! I am not shipping to California or any state not friendly to hunters, shooters, or sportsmen. I prefer not to ship anything due to disastrous consequences I have had in the past shipping guns. I believe there exists the smith I seek within the boundaries of the Lonestar State. I just have to find him/her.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

I found one. I feel bad because I should have gone there first. I live 8 hours away and was hoping to find one closer whose rates were not higher-than-a-cat's-ass. I will be going to a smith in Mansfield,Texas. The shop is Bill's Gun Shop. The smith is James Reid. I have talked with him at length in the past and I don't know why I didn't call him first. I'll figure out how to post pictures when done. I like wood!!!
