I guess my question is, what do you folks use to drip bore cleaner into the solvent port. All my bottles would make a mess without some kind applicator. I was thinking maybe an eye dropper might work. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jeff

Sinclair sells solvent bottles with the flip open spouts just for that purpose.

I was always under the impression that the solvent port on a bore guide was to let excess solvent out of the bore so that it doesn't get in to the action and trigger assembly!! I always thought that you attached a plastic tube to it to let it drain away from the action. bowhuntr

The solvent port lets you put the solvent on the patch or brush while contained within the guide. I find though that it creates more mess than it is supposed to solve. Chuck

I unscrew mine and throw them in a drawer of things I might find a use for some day. The thing I really hate about the idea of actually using the solvent port is that it sits over the tang of my receiver. That means if my aim is off, I will drip solvent or oil on the tang, and it will run off and soak into the wood, leaving a crappy looking dark stain in a very visible area. I hang a towel over that part of the rifle, and I put the solvent on the patch away from the rifle. H. C.

My problem is that I get bore solvent on my fingers and even if I wipe them off I get it on the stuff I'm working on. Jeff

One of the great things about gravity is that it always seems to work! Turn your weapon upside down when running wet patches and you won't have to worry about solvent getting into the trigger area, or stock. If you have a scope attached just cover it with plastic kitchen wrap. Rick
