Hi guys,

I visited with Tip Burns at his place in Canyon Lake, TX last week while on vaca in the Hill country. A supernice man and very knowledgeable gunsmith in my estimation.

He let me handle a number of firearms there and I was shocked how nice the 5130 Oberndorf pattern is from LW. The one he showed me without being attached to a receiver was from the factory micing .625 @ 26" for a 404J.

He had another LW barrel on a complete rifle in 404J and it mic'd .700 @ 26" and it was a truck axle by comparison. I told him I'd send my LH Zastava to him in May when I get it and then decide what to do with it. That barrel was a real beauty and I intend to use one like it. New caliber unknown...

I've heard many great things about him. I would love to have a gallery area, with each builder having a thread with lots of pics of rifles they've built for members. often times IF they have a website the pictures either aren't very good quality or are too few. If you have pics post them please.

He is a odd duck for a gunsmith. Seems to run the shop like a business and does work quickly.

Tip a fine man and a darn fine gunsmith and just a lot of fun too. I could write a page full of good things and good work from him too.

The whole US gunsmith industry and us as gun owners, shooters, hunters, breakers and builders of things that shoot LOL, could use a lot more of him.

Tip Burns has built 4 rifles for me. 2 404 Jeffery rifles with L-W barrels and two 257 Roberts rifles with A & B barrels. All were well done and beautifully finished with on time delivery and at a fair price!
He has also done a lot of pistol work for me.

An honest, forthright man! No bullshit just solutions!

Oh, did I mention he seems to find time to talk to me or promptly returns my calls!
