Hi everyone, I've recently acquired a .378 Weatherby built on an M400 Brevex action. The barrel appears to be French or Belgian with 375M and B Blindee marks and a number of other proof marks. Does anyone know about how many of the large Brevex actions were produced? Thanks, a_p analog_peninsula ----------------------- It takes character to withstand the rigors of indolence.

Jon Speed writes that "up to 1960 only 400-800 actions were made". IMO he mean both types, M300 and M400

Tom Burgess also estimated several hundred. Tradewinds was the US importer. B Blindee refers to a Belgium barrel maker. Weatherby supposedly purchased 188 for their first 378s & 460s but only a few are on record. I own several and have looked at a few more, all of which have low-mid hundred serial numbers on the bottoms of the actions. Judging by the small number of customs that surface, I also guess several hundred. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

I'd buy all that I could get my grubby little hands on for $118.50. analog_peninsula ----------------------- It takes character to withstand the rigors of indolence.
