Its a wooden stock, not a synthetic, but yes, I think its time to look properly at the loads.I am happy with it for now, but that flier has got me bugged.I think was in the last 2 or 3 of each group and a lot of the shots were with a hot barrel.I'll take more time , both in the loading and the shooting and see where I get to.

You many have a recoil lug bearing problem, which can be caused by improper bedding that flexes the action. Injection molded stocks are hard to get right the first time. Do the action screw check. I once had a 700 that I couldn't get to shoot less than an inch no matter what; then I tried bedding the barrel all the way and it shot wonderfully. Try experimenting with the OAL of your loads.

sounds GREAT what number in the string is the flier? if it's ALWAYS # 4 or # 5, switch to a 3 x 3shot group, over an hour... the barrel is "just" too light for the heat MOA or there abouts, is MORE than good enough for hunting jeffe

As an update on me getting my Howa 243 shooting(see earlier post on " cleaning stainless guns") I went for the full bed of the barrel and action. The rifle now groups around the inch @ 100, but puts 4 of the shots into less than 1/2". I think at this stage, I should look more at the loads I'm making. I'm not trying to make the gun into a benchrest rifle, its not and probably never will be, but I want to eliminate that flier if I can. BTW that was the average of 4 groups. On one group, there was only 1 approx 40cal hole and 1 243 hole!
