The excellents Husvarnas rifles post WWII are made on FN actions , it have the closed C or not ? for me in a standard caliber like the '06 should be no problem as a few millions of rounds are fired with this actions and no reports of problem are known as a Blaser 93 Saludos Daniel

I prefer the Military actions with the full "C" ring but many a fine custom rifle has been built off the FN action. If you are building a .30-06 I would procede without worry.

When barreling a Mauser I cut the barrel shoulder with a tool turned a few degrees toward the muzzle. The shoulder is thereby not 90 degrees. More like 92-93 degrees. When barrel comes up hard against inner collar the top edge of shoulder closes the gap. Some thought years ago that one should make equal contact with inner collar and front of receiver at the same time. As pointed out most recently in this forum by Matt Williams this is not possible. By undercutting the barrel shoulder I feel that it more easily yeids against receiver face eliminating gasp and acting somewhat like a lock washer.
