I'm looking to buy a barrel in .311 or .310. I would prefer a turned blank with a 10" twist from a good maker. No mil-surp, not take-off unless exceptional. Of course I can just buy one from one of several barrel makers, but I was just thinking maybe there is one out there left over from some project that didn't happen. Take-off in 7.62x39 is OK. Hopefully one that will finish out 20" or more. The contour is important too. I don't want to have to pay a gunsmith to turn to smaller contour. Re-threading and chambering is different. Yes, the price is right. I talked to my main gunsmith about this and he recommends to stay away from blanks that need turning to contour. I'm following his advice on this one. He has one but I think I'll pass on it too. I searched and found a #5 stainless blank at McGowen at a good price, but it's still too beefy. So, now I'm thinking 6.5x55.
