PeterWhat makes a 1911 a 1911?
Grip safety? Barrel link? I read of 1911 style or 1911 type guns and have never been sure of the defining characteristics of a 1911.
Thanks, Peter.

Thanks for the link. I've owned andr/or shot a 1911 for over 30 years and enjoyed her videos on them.

daniel77I use the hell out of Youtube for learning. Midway USA has an entire series of videos (like 150 or so) on all sorts of gunsmithing DIY stuff. You can also watch someone take apart and reassemble just about any make or model gun you can think of just by doing a quick search. I'm a visual learner, and watching someone else do it first ensures a lot less frustration for myself. my$.02.
