This idea just struck me out of nowhere and before I dream any more I'd like to confirm whether it could work.

One day I'll probably wear out the barrel on my A-Bolt 300WinMag (Stainless Stalker). At that time, would it be possible to rebore and rechamber for a 338 WinMag (or maybe a 338RUM)? I imagine it would only require a minumum of metal removal to go to 338Win, not sure about the RUM.

I've also dreamed about a 358, but that would probably require taking too much out of the barrel.

I think you would be better off if you re-barrel. I don't know of anybody that rebores barrels. With the 338 RUM you would have to open up the bolt as well.

It costs about 250-300 for a rebarrel in stainless, from pacnor... you could have it in 358 norma for that.

it'll be AT LEAST 300, and no promise that it'll work for a rebore.

shoot the 300 out, and then you can rebarrel for 358 or 416 taylor
