picked up a german 98 that has been partially sported and here is a list of some of the work I'd be looking to have done: 1. dual set triggers installed 2. butter-knife bolt put in place 3. might put a recoil pad, might not 4. might need to take off the old military site, might not 5. might need a new barrel, might not 6. I might even go so far as to getting a full length style stock on it if we do re-barrel it. 7. Might also need to D&T for modern scope bases/rings... Dave

I think you need to narrow down some of those might-might nots beforehand. I'd take the thing out and shoot it first and see how it shoots. Once you know whether it needs a new barrel a lot of the other stuff falls into place.

If you decide that you want to complete all the items on your checklist, you'd probably be dollars ahead by just biting the bullet and buying a Brno 22F. You can pour a lot of money into a M98 and still have a $250 rifle at the end of the day. ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon
