10 inch is a bit slow for 6.5 bore with anything but the very lightest bullets. generally, 8.5 and 9 cover just about all the weights. i have a 9 inch barreled 6.5-.270 improved and it starts to get loose with 140"s and up(140's get pretty long in 6.5 bore) i would think an 8.5" would work better, but i mainly shoot 120's and 129's and for them, the 9inch is about right. i have shot one hole,5-shot groups on several occasions with nosler solid base 129's and just shot a .463" 3-shot group while forming cases a couple days ago!
one thing to remember is that the 6.5 bore is kind of a red headed step child as far as bullet length to weight is concerened. the bore is big enough to throw some decent weight but too small to make that weight without the bullets being overly long for the bore, so twist becomes kind of bullet specific, typical of a bore with a fairly wide range of bullets made for it. that's not to say that it's a PITA., they will shoot fairly good with any twist and any weight, but unlike allot of other bore diameters, you do have to pick a general weight area in the range, ie. either the lighter half or the heavier half and twist it for that weight group. when you find the right stuff, they shoot

Ditto what Merlinron said. I wouldn't have a 6.5mm with twist other than 1/8".

hi
if you have a barrel with 1/10 twist and want to use it for big game. you can use both 100 and 125 grain nosler partition with good accuracy and they can kill any deer , but in light side for elk and moose .it will make a nice deer only rifle.
cheers
