What about the bore and chamber? How does one prevent rusting in the bore and chamber while the barreled action is in the damp box? I think this question has been answered here before, but I can't remember what the general consensus was. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I was just wondering the other day about the tank and where I was gonna get something that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Was thinking about soldering the end caps on the gutter, never thought about silicone.

Just don't forget the screws! Mine started to come apart with 1.5 gallons of boiling water in it.

Also, take some heavy wire or figure out something that will hold your barrel off the bottom of the tank so that the water can circulate around it. I made little saddles out of 9 ga wire.

I went to the junkie... they had some coke machines, the kind you might see in a fast food resturant. Well I tore the stainless off of them and scored some lines in it, folded into a box, silver soldered it up. If you score it right, you will only have to silver solder the ends. guy didnt even charge me for them, so I took as much as I felt I could get away with.
Thats funny about the colman, I heat mine on two plug in burners.

Damn Chic, I think that about sums it up

After being a member of this forum for quite some time, it never ceases to amaze me at the vast amount of knowledge that can be obtained here from some of the most recognizable names in the industry. From smiths, to stockmakers, engravers, and manufacturers, there's a lot that's contributed daily for free.
How soon we get spoiled on this knowledge and forget what it was like before this pool of experience was available within a few short keystrokes. We also may take for granted the fact that the people who regulary contribute "useful" information will continue to do so even after the topic of "gunsmithing" falls by the wayside, drowned out by the labyrinth of bullshit that seeps in from other conversations that have little or nothing to do with this forum.

I, as I'm sure many others here not only enjoy contributing to these forums, but we also like to see other contribute their experiences as well. The topic my friends is "GUNSMITHING", not Trolls,BS Meters,Judy,Jack,Jill, or anybody else. We come here often, sharing a single common interest. Even though we live all over the world, and live very different lives, it's what makes us a community of a single hobby, firearms.

I quit looking at the "big bore" forum many months ago because of what's taking place right here in this thread.

Mauser, your presence, or lack there of, won't be missed here in this forum.

Now, let's get back to guns

It is interesting what happened before I posted that last one. I got a PM on here from Scott S telling me that he was NOT Mauser but that Judy was his wife and that she only posts in the political forum. He went on to ask that I do not include him in the discussions with Mauser.

Now for someone who never posts on the gunsmithing forum (Scott S) and who apparently is no friend of Mausers, he sure heard of this in a big hurry. It does not take a rocket scientist to put that one together. Adn that is the last that I will say on the matter.

We're obviously dealing with someone that is mentally ill here. All the multiple personalities and the cries for attention. It's just ashamed people like that can't get help. What's even worse is this mentally ill piece of trash has an Internet connection and we all have deal with his/her/it's disease when we come here to talk about our hobbies and for some, their professions.
