Been a while since I have posted as I have recently moved from Houston to Calgary. Used to be ID'd as "Ed". Anyway, I have a really beautiful old Sauer that I had rebored to 35 Whelen due to a shot out/corroded barrel. It has the octagon to round barrel with integral rib, slim and light very fancy walnut stock with gold intitial inlay, fine grip checkering and schnabel forend tip with the cross clip, buffalo horn butt plate, double triggers,, lever floorplate release, etc. A nice classic for sure. It was missing the original folding leaf rear sight but I have found a couple to replace it but prefer peeps. It has already been drilled and tapped for scope use (prior to my ownership) which, by the way, does not work very well with the healthy drop in the stock. I'd like to find a vintage receiver sight and have it installed. Not sure what would be "right" and I do not want to spend $300 for the sight either. Any suggestions?

Any Lyman or Redfield for a 98 Mauser will work...but you might be surprised how well you can get by with a low scope if the bolt handle is right...Those low combs have never had any bad effect on my shooting...
