Matrix gunsmithing?
Any experience with Matrix gunsmithing since they took over the upgrades from AHR? I’m like to have my model 70 375H&H upgraded/fine-tuned…

I checked on them about a month or two ago wanting to get an upgrade to my 550. Their prices seem, as well as I can remember, quite a bit more than when AHR did the same upgrades. Again, from memory, they didn't offer the same work/options as did AHR. Both those points are apparently moot at this time, as I believe they have stopped taking any additional 550 upgrade work. I don't remember if it is for good, or there is a set time when they will start again.

Tim was swamped with orders and hopefully will
clear out the backlog by 1st quarter, 2024.
His prices for #1, #2 upgrades have always been
the same as Wayne’s.
I think he will focus on the #1 going forward
as this is the biggest bang for the buckSmiler

Just downloaded the price sheet. I believe Wayne used to offer a rear sight base/recoil lug with a single, or possibly 2 blade, rear sight. I believe it was offered in his #2 and #3 packages. Unless I missed it somewhere, I didn't see that listed on either price sheets I downloaded (2 and 3), or even as an option. This is why I made my statement about prices being more expensive than AHR's.The price for each upgrade has not changed, but you get less for the same price. I am not knocking Matrix in any way, just stated the facts as I see them.

Not sure. I sent an email before starting this thread with no response.

In the meantime, I found another smith to help me with my 375.

I just went to Matrix website and it is up and running. It looks like there is a bunch of new content since last time I was there so maybe it was down while "upgrading" the website.

Matrix hopes to have his CNC up and running this quarter and plans to offer this octagon barrel.
We like the qrib seamless transition to the "tulip" and that is does not extend over the breech section,
keeping that section round as it mates to the action.

His site works fine on my MAC; no chrome; just Google. Here is what I learned;
He is not taking orders; he is booked up until March 24.
Like most one man craft shops, he has more work than he can do.
He does the CZ upgrades that AHR used to do.
He has a CNC mill that I would kill for.
He does 95 different colors of Cerakote; always an eye catcher and a lot easier to apply than Rust Blue.
