Thank you Clark. I am going to try the new mag first and then maybe the spring therein. I wouldn't know how to go about lessening the strength of the recoil spring, and I do have a new mag to try! At any rate I appreciate the feedback, it gives me some good options if the new mag doesn't do it.
Regards--Don.

I have put a triple recoil spring assembly [42 pounds to compensate for 460 Roland level loads] in a Patriot 45acp, and the chamber came up empty, so I had to double up on magazine springs.

I have put a triple recoil spring assembly [48 pounds to compensate for hot handloads] in a Glock19 9mm, and the chamber came up empty, so I had to double up on magazine springs.

What does it all mean?

If the recoil spring can accelerate the slide past the magazine faster than the magazine spring can push up the next round to be picked up by the breech face, then you have some options:

1) reduce the recoil spring force

2) increase the magazine spring force

3) reduce the magazine friction

4) get lower mass cartridges

5) increase the slide mass

Or your problem may be different, like the breech face is not square, and is pushing down and not forward.

Or the bullet end of the cartridge has all the mass and the cartridge is spinning so the the rim comes up and the nose dives. If so look at the angle of the follower.

I have a Desert Eagle in 44 mag. and about every 3rd round the action cycles but it doesn't pick up a round out of the magazine. I have cleaned it the best that I can, and the spring in the mag seems fine, it feels like it is just as firm when loading rounds into it as it ever was. Looking for suggestions on what might be causing my cycling problem and any cures.
Thanks--Don
