I have a friend that brought a H & R pistol over to me that is in need of repair. It looks like it needs a new hand fitted. It is a model 686. I know that there are guys out there that like to work on these pistols but I am not one.
If you know of someone I can put him in contact with I and he would apprecate it.

Rolland,
I have worked on H&R's of this design over the years with mixed results. Replacing damaged or missing hands and hammer spring assemblies worked sometimes and sometimes not. I would be willing to work on it with the understanding that sometimes it is just not possible to get one to function by replacing the part that seems to be defective.
I'm in Fenton, Michigan.
