How is the gas block attached to the barrel of the FAL family of rifles?

Axel it is a tight fit but also has a cross pin too. Push the cross pin out with a punch & use an aluminum ( i use a 1" diameter rod 12 " long tapered to a square of about 5/8 x5/8) to knock the housing loose. Rest the square end of the rod against the edge of the housing ( be careful not to damage the gas adjustment nut threads) & rap the rod with a hammer working on either side of the housing till it slides forward.
