1903 Springfield.....Lyman 48 rear sight, Ruger front, Dressel grip cap, Biesen butt. Stock was an old semi-inlet that I tried to fashion as a pre-war sporter.......as much as the existing wood would allow. Completed bluing just before deer season, so checkering will have to wait. Sadly, nothing I wanted to shoot presented itself this season.

Another beauty from Northern Wisconsin. Please make sure and come back to show us what it looks like when you get it checkered.

Very nice, I have always wanted to build a rifle on a Springfield action in 35 whelen. Never rode a bull, but have shot some. NRA life member NRA LEO firearms instructor (retired) NRA Golden Eagles member

Yep, either that or a .257Roberts. You and Grandview both have some very nice rifles. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Heh Heh..... Got one of those also, Rolland. In fact, my entire rifle battery is now 5 Springfields and a Winchester 94. Hopeless nostalgic romantic......

Very nice GV. Do you think you could have squeezed a few more points in on that checkering? hehehe.....just pulling your leg.

Oooh.......forgot to show one of the points! BTW......remember the Goen's point pattern in Kennedy's book? 20-something?

I like the forearm pattern.

Thanks. I tried to match the forearm with the wrist.......the rear of the forearm a mirror image of the front of the wrist panel. So the wood through the action has an impression of symmetry.......framed by the checkering panels.

Very, very nice on the 7x57 (and the 35). What kind of rear swivel base is it on the 7x57 - is it a screw in that look like an inlet base, or an inletted base? Looks substantial. TG

It's a screw in from NECG. It requires a 3/4" rounded flat for the base. Be careful not to make too big a flat....I did, and it requires a fix of some kind. It is a nice match for the barrel band swivel.....if installed correctly. Mine is set a little bit deep into the stock....although it doesn't show in this picture. I have small "flats" of wood on either side of the base that I will correct somehow. The hazards of falling in love with something after the stock was shaped and finished.....and getting careless. Wouldn't be the first time!

A very tasteful gun. Thanks for sharing. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Winston Churchill

Very nice. Would happen to have a pic of the butt plate? I've been using the treebone Win replica, I'd like to see a Beisen. ______________________ Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Grandview: I can't recall seeing a lovelier job on a Springfield, and in such a classic caliber. Beautiful job. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I like them. Finely checkered and quite heavy. Bill/Oregon... Thanks for the kind words.
