I was wondering if anybody has built up a Lazzeroni Chambered rifle? Also, could a model 70 Winchester action be used as the basis for the long versions (i.e.7.82 warbird)or would it have to be something the size of a CZ 550 Safari action? On the short action versions( i.e 7.82 patriot) could a 700 rem or 70winchester action be opened up enough to feed properly? What about the feasibility of using a 30 fluted barrel inch barrel to keep weight down and the velocity up? I once saw a .300 Kong ( a .30-378 WBY derivative)w/ such a barrel on a m-70 action at a gun show. Unfortunately the dealer who had the rifle didn't have any info on how the long light barrel worked? Thanks for the input, Good Shooting, HBB

hillbillybear.....many gunsmiths will build you a rifle chambered for one of the Lazzeroni cartridges using either the Win 70 or Rem 700 and I don't know first-hand of anyone having trouble with them (Lazzeroni started out using the Rem 700) but to my "eye" the 0.578" case head is just to big for both these actions......bolt-thrust and a reasonable margin of safety come into play. To my way of thinking you have two choices (1) use a Ruger #1 which has a certain elelgance to it or (2) use the same action Lazzeroni uses...the McMillan MCRT...the only difference is it will same McM on the side rather than Lazzeroni. I had one built using most of the components Lazzeroni uses....MCRT action, Sunny Hill bottom metal and magazine box, Mcmillan stock, I didn't use a Scneider barrel but I did use a Vais brake. Also used a custom-tuned Rem 700 trigger rather than a Jewell. Parts alone will cost you a minimum of $2500.00 and you need to have someone thread, chamber and fit the barrel, bed the stock, select a finish for the metal etc.
