I have a m700 I stalk around with quite a bit and would like to refinish the metal with something dull. Any sugestions on what works and is durable? I will have a gunsmith do the job so that it is done right. The stock I am going to strip and redo with a dull oil finish but if you all have any suggestion on that I'm open. Thanks Perry

Bead blast and re-blue will give a matte finish. As will parkerizing if you can find anybody that does it. Rusty's Action Works Montross VA. Action work for Cowboy Shooters & Manufacturer of Stylized Rigby rifle sights. http://i61.photobucket.com/alb.../th_isofrontleft.jpg

I used GunKote on several. I went back to bead blasting and blueing. Parkerizing would probably give the longest life. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
