I noticed my new M70 compact in .243 win has bedding compound aound the recoil lug and rear tang. While this is an improvement over an old M70 I have that appeared to have nothing but a dab of hot glue near the recoil lug, I wonder if the new bedding method is sufficient. It would sure be an easy way to do a bedding job. Tanzania in 2006! Had 141 posts on prior forum as citori3.

It should be sufficent because the 243 cal, doesn,t have that much recoil. This is just a little method to help strenghten these important area,s for the quality of the wood used now days is not of the best. I shouldn,t worry about it. Every notice the little brasscircle in the stock of a Rem 700 near the front lug. Its a threaded shaft put throught the stock to strengten it in recoil. Some manufactorers do this and put a black inletting circle in this area so people can,t see it,and the public think its a inlay to inhance the looks. vangunsmith
