Since we are going on limited info, have you taken the other side out yet? Unless the stripped one is bottomed out, it may relieve some pressure. This assumes it's the head as Ted has inquired. More info is really needed...straight, torx, hex?? Pics would answer these and more.

It is the screw head for the screw that locks down the rings. They come with the talley rings. Pictures are tough. I post exclusively off my phone.

To remove a bubba'd screw, simply drill the head out so it falls off, remove the ring, undo the screw shaft with some vice grips. Replace screw and re-install rings. Cheers.

As stated, remove opposite screw first and see if that does it. Put the bit in each screw head and give it a good rap with a hammer. This helps. If that fails, select a square drive bit and rap into the screw head and turn it out. Last resort drill the head off as previous poster suggested.

If it is a torx screw, I usually use a hardened screwdriver or hand made piece of steel I made with a blade, and tap it into the buggered screw head and try to twist it out before I drill one out. I almost always works. If its not a torx, then I just drill it out as stated above.
