Hello to all. I have recently signed on to this forum, but have been reading posts here for quite some time.
I have a question concerning my Weatherby's trigger. It is a .270 Winchester Vanguard VGL. I have had the trigger worked on by two different gunsmiths and both have said that it is as good as it is going to get. The pull weight is way to much. The creep is inconsistent and too long. The trigger sucks. I have looked around for a replacement, like a Timney, but have not had any luck. Any suggestions for a replacement or can it still be worked on?

These triggers can be lightened. I have done one on a 7mm-08.
We are talking about the supposedly adjustable trigger.
What happens when you lighten the trigger, then the safety does not work. So you need to remove a little metal so the safety will work. Then you can adjust the trigger very light
I made mine 24oz. When you look at the trigger parts you will see where the metal has to be removed and where the sear interferes with the safty. It amounts to very little removal. It turned out as good a trigger as you might want. You need the proper small hex nut drivers and the very small open end wrenches. So you an lock the sear tight in place. Perhaps a smith might not want to do this for the same reason as the factory. The trigger is a dog and is made so on purpose a CYA job. Now when you do this it voids all factory warranty and responsibility. Fred M.

Zermal hit the nail on the head, you lighten a wby vg trigger to much and it locks the safety. The lightest trigger in my house is a Vg, it can be lightened. Just take it to the right GS, or do it yourself. I had Dewight Marshal in Refugio Texas do mine. A VG trigger and be worked down light and still be safe, pretty good trigger in my books if done right.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll try the gunsmith one more time.
