Does anyone out there have any firsthand experiences with the Remington 700 Titanium action? Is it as strong as a carbon steel or stainless steel one? How about stretching on firing--is it hard on brass? Any, and all comments greatly appreciated.

Go over to 24 Hour Campfire forums at http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php There are quite a few over at that forum who have TI actions.

We've just completed a Titanium R700 for a lady who wanted a light deer rifle with no recoil and no muzzle blast. Chambered in 250 Savage. Metalurgically speaking Ti has been described as 30% heavier than Aluminum with the strength of mild steel. Our experience says you can save 6-7oz over a standard R700 short action, much of that coming from the spiral-fluted bolt and skeletonized bolt handle. For this project, it was a good move. For a magnum, I would pass on Titanium.

I just finished this rifle. The action was very easy to work with using carbide tooling. The only issue I have is the roughness of the bolt travel. It seems the Ti and the Stainless don't like to rub up against each other. I've tried every type of lubricant I have. Dry moly lube seems to work the best but is messy. Other than that I built a great lightweight hunting rifle

yes, we noted the roughness too. Got it Falcon Coated, a polymer finish the acts as its own lubricant. Sure slicked things up. Pictures soon. Stock coming out of checkering just now.
