Hi,

Have a couple to work on, wondering what to do with the high charger hump - seems a shame to cut it down, as it makes these actions very unique. What have others done? Also, any pics of the front ring slimmed down to small ring with a square bridge appearance, created by leaving a pad on top of the front ring? I have heard of this in several places, but have yet to actually see one.

Thanks in advance,
Todd

Are these going to be open sight guns? A "mini" rear square bridge would look nice & leave the stripper clip guide functional.

Doug,

These will probably be open sight guns - one is the 1903 Turk you barrelled, I also have a couple more actions. And one 'Waffenfabric Mauser Oberndord a/n' that I suspect is a South American contract receiver. I came into some square bridge blanks, front and rear, and am trying to decide whether to use just the rear or both.

The 1903 Turk already barrelled, I think I will leave as is. I have grown fond of the charger hump and the winged bolt stop.

Best,
Todd

I had Tom Burgess leave the high charger hump on mine cause I also think it is interesting and unique. I'm also retaining the military safety. My rifle will have express sights on the barrel.

Mr. Burgess made an oval front ring on this Peruvian. Also contributing were Maurice Ottmar, Chic Worthing and Roger Kehr.

1909 Peruvian Mausers must not rust. That's the cleanest bunch of action's I've seen in a long time.

Those are slick. I will try to post some pics of my sporting rifle in progress, and my original 1909 Peruvian. The latter was a parade rifle at one time, and was unfortunately reblued and otherwise slicked up for that. I am debating about undoing all of that, and restoring it to it's original form. Fantastic rifles, all.

wonder if the rear hump could be filled in for scope mounting, or would that be just totally ghetto?? I agree I like the big charging hump, I say leave it
