I received two Chrome moly, mag face short actions. The first one (also the higher SN) was unfinished and and not polished at all. The second (and curiously lowered numbered) was finished and fairly well polished. I asked MRC about this and received no reply.

Parry,
I'm not sure whom you asked about this. You should not have received a "unpolished" action unless you specifically asked for it. We try to keep a few on hand that are not polished for those guys who prefer to do their own polishing. If you still have the action and want to send it back to me, I will gladly send you one that is polished. Again I'm sorry, don't know how this could have happened.

If I get an exception rather than rule action and I need to go all the way down through the markings and serial number to correct the dished screw holes, can I send the action back and get it re-serial numbered and marked? It seems as if an action with stoned-off markings and serial number would be lower in worth (and maybe illegal some places).

With all of the dished out spots you went to work on, which seems like quite a bit, I wonder if all the short action CROMO's come from that same mold??

If I were MRC, I would without question fire the party responsible for letting that action out the door in the unsafe condition it was obviously in. That action should have been tested the smae way that it was mentioned, before it ever left, no excuses. Sorry pal, you endangered peoples lives, and/or are ruining my companies name, that's all I'd say to those involved before I showed them the door!! I'm sure none of these customers mind the extra wait for MRC to hire qualified replacements either. It already appears that some of these individuals must have passed through their employment probationary period, but how they have, given some of these reports is another thing I'd look into, and seriously too. Companies that have TOP names in the firearms industry, DO NOT EVER let this sort of thing happen. What the name MRC becomes synonymous with is entirely up to them. This action being let out is NOT a step in the right direction though, and excuses often fall on deaf ears. I hope to buy one soon, but for now I'm still content with my wait and see approach.

Brent,

It actually isn't the mold that causes the "dished out" holes, it is in polishing. We have spoken to the polishing house and complained about this. They are supposed to take action to stop this from happening. As to the failure of the safety and the person responsible, they are no longer with the company.
