What does this barrel stamp stand for? Looks like a horse bust with an "F" on the neck. The bottom of the barrel is stamped "Federal Firearms Oakdale PA. I'm guessing it's that company's mark, but am wondering what else it might be. Barrel makers mark perhaps? The barrel seems brand new with no, sign of ever being fired, but I have no clue when the gun was rebarreled. I found this company on the web this evening, and they are still in business. Anybody familiar with them, and perhaps know what barrels they typically use?
Thanks,
Matt

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Most cottage industry gunmakers have a stamp that they use to identify their own work. The majority of the one man operations use their personal initials. Others, like these guys have had a vanity stamp made to give a bit of color and splash to their business. I'm pretty sure that's all it is.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!
