03 Springfield 3 Position Safety Options: Modify Win M70
I asked about this months ago but I am starting to collect the pieces for a 400 Whelen on an 03 Springfield action and I would like it to have a 3 position safety.
Naturally Ed LaPours safeties come to mind when talking about Springfields but last time I asked this question someone said you can convert a Win M70 safety to use on a Springfield. I asked the details but no response so I am asking again.
What are my options besides LaPours for the 3 position and if the Win is convertible to a Springfield someone tell me more about the work required.
Thanks

Why trouble with converting a Model 70 part when the Lapour safety is so good?

Jim Wisner tolo us all about this. A POST64 safety can be made to work. When that part was cheap, it was certainly worthwhile. I have, myself, tested a mocked up fitting, and a post 64 screws right into the springfield bolt, with correct timing, and iirc, there was soem interference from the firing pin, but nothing big.

the lapour is 300bucks for the safety and firingpin (or a little more) and when you could get a m70 safety for <100bucks, it was a no brainer.

There is also the 2 position safety, like Jim Kobe does. Jim does a great job on these.

I agree Chisana the LaPour safeties are good but I wanted to know about my other choices like going to the beer store and only having one brand of beer on the shelf and kind of wondering if there is anything else out there.
By the way how are things in Dutch? Its been years since I've been there I'll bet its changed a bunch. Akutan too I'll bet has changed it used to be a Post Office the bar called the Roadhouse and an old church that wasn't getting used much with maybe 50 residents. Its been awhile since I've been in your neck of the woods.
