Hey guys, noticed on one of my rifles the other day that it looks like where the barrel rests in the foam rubber in my safe it is starting to affect the bluing. What do all of you do to keep this from happening? Should I just put a sock over the barrels before leaning them into the cutouts?

thanks

Is there anything on the cut outs now? My gun safe has carpet on the places the barrels go. If yours are bare, you could cover them with felt or pieces of carpet.

Dago, I've seen this on my rifles in the my old safe safe with foam on the barrel rests. Everytime it just wiped right off with oil, mine looked like they were getting an almost speckled finish but seems to have not been a real problem. I used felt in the new cabinet and haven't seen the problem yet.

I didn't see if I could rub it out, I will give that a try. I just noticed it and it looked like it was wearing. If that doesn't work I will put something softer over the foam.
