Couple of questions: 1) Does the standard commercial FN Mauser floor plate release have the same extension above the floor plate that the FN action made for Sears? 2) Will that floor plate release fit and function in VZ.24 bottom metal? Am looking for a little bit better solution to the floor plate release situation without getting completely new bottom metal. Thanks! Convert it to lever release. It only requires 4 parts which were once for sale. I used to make them. Does not take anything but a lathe and a drillpress. The latch, the lever,(which is spring steel),The screw to join the two parts and the small screw that goes in the floorplate as the stop. It makes for an easy removal of the floorplate and looks nice. Same as the old original Mauser design. SCI Life Member NRA Patron Life Member DRSS

Mike, To answer your question, yes, one of my FN commercials does have the same extension that the one sold by Sears does. And, yes, it will fit a vz24 or any other milsurp bottom metal that uses that type of release. If you are interested in converting to hinged, Don Markey's tutorial is helpful. Mike, Thank you! Bob's Gun Parts lists them. Have two rifles built on FN Mauser actions and two built with military bottom metal. Going to Texas for a pig hunt at a friend's place in a couple of weeks and am not sure which rifles I'll take. Want to make sure that whatever goes has at least the release with the extension. Is a PITA to use an FMJ bullet to pop the floorplate off. Will eventually get around to learning to make nicer bottom metal ... just don't have time right now. Thanks again! They certainly are better than an FMJ, lol. Good hunting! Aut vincere aut mori
